Blogging business has become a very genius model to be free
financially, you don’t need to be working under anybody, and even if you are,
you are ready to sack your boss after reading this article.
Blogging meaning
Blogging is an online medium that allows webmasters to share
their thoughts and ideas with the world. This type of blog can be used for
personal or commercial purposes.
Blogging is a great way to get information on the internet
inexpensively with friendly results, such as high search engine ranking, and
free advertising. The blog, with its variety of keyword heavy posts allows
people to make money off of the high return result on a search engine like
Google. What this means is that if you are selling home security systems, and you
create a blog about good deals on such systems, chances are people looking for
a security system will come across your blog in the search engine. This added
exposure will surly help more people notice your business, and make purchases,
thus creating greater business for you.
Blogs are most
commonly found on the internet via the World Wide Web, and can be published for
free by some of the biggest names on the internet. The fact that the blog is
free is the main reason why people can so easily profit from using them,
because there is no real upfront investment with blogs, and thus there is only
one way to go from zero dollars invested, and that’s to profit.
Let’s see how to start a blogging Business in few steps.
How to Start a Blogging Business

How
to Choose a Niche
A niche is what you want to be blogging about (your specific
topic).
If you want to choose a niche you really need to brainstorm
about something’s:
- Did I love doing something (what can you teach)?
- Did I have experience about what I want to be teaching?
- Can I really last long in that teaching?
- Are there audience that want my teachings?
If you can answer YES to all this four questions, I bet you
are ready to start a blog.
Choosing niche depends on your interest, you can’t be
blogging about what you knew nothing about, it is really absurd.
Choosing to start Blogging business is simple if you are
ready to do all it takes, in fact there are people making a million dollar in a
year with this blogging business and you can also do the same.
In the history of the internet, there are 4 niches that are
converting very well, even if you don’t know anything about them before it’s a
thing that you can start making researches on them and understand what they are
all about. You need to choose one of those niches though.
The 4 Mega Niche

How
to Setup a Blog
I assume you have narrow down and have chosen a specific
niche to be blogging about.
If that’s the case, let’s see how you can set up a blog in a
specific niche.
Step #1 – Go to blogger.com, chick on “create your blog” then
sign up with your Gmail account and if you don’t have one then create one at
with Google Gmail. Once you are signed in with your Gmail address, choose a
title for your blog, your title must be a brief explanation of what your blog
is all about.
For example, let say am in the business and finance niche
and want to be blogging about “How to start a profitable blog”, the best title
might be “Learn to start a 5-7 figure blogging business”.
Make sure your title is not more than 65 words because
search engines like Google will only show 65 words of your title on mobile and
about 100 on desktop and as you can see, the title I choose up there is not
long.
Click on next after you have chosen your title and it will
redirect you to where to choose domain name.
Make sure the domain name you choose is not long, easy to
write and doesn’t contains special characters. Then click on next and your blog
has been created successfully.
Step #2 – Here we
are going to install themes to make our blog look good and professional. Go to
Google and type in ”SEO friendly blogger template”, click on any of the
websites that shows up and download a theme of your choice.
Extract the themes that you just download because it will
definitely be zipped, once you have done that then go back to your blogger
dashboard and click on Theme, it
will take you to where you will be able to choose your theme. So click on the
arrow down beside Customize and
click on restore, it will take you to your system file and ask you to choose a
file, so navigate to where you’ve extracted the theme you downloaded and locate
the file with .xml extension and
upload it.
After you have uploaded it your blog will look good and
simple depending on the theme you download.
Step #3 – We will
now make some edit in the layout menu, click on Layout and remove any widget you don’t like and add if necessary,
locate where main menu is and remove the one’s there and add that of yours.
You can add pages and labels, so that your blog will be well
organized.
You must add the necessary pages like: about us, contact us,
privacy policy, terms of service, and disclaimer if necessary.
And you are done designing your blog.
Creating
Great Contents
Congratulations! You have designed your blog and are ready
to start blogging by creating your first post. What goes into a great content
is to write for search engines because only organic traffic can take your
blogging business to greater level.
Let’s publish your first blog post.
Let’s say the keyword we want to write about and rank for is
“How to Rank on The First Page of Google”.
What we need to do is to:
- Make your main keyword the title of your article (H1)
- Include the keyword in the subheadings
- Add the keyword throughout your article and make sure it’s not too much
- Include the keyword in your search description
- You should only have one H1 in your article
- You must add copyright free images to your articles (as many as possible)
If you are able to follow all what I listed above, you are
likely to be at the point of getting your blog post on the first page of
Google.
Before you write article on a specific keyword make sure you
perform keyword research so that you will know if people are searching for that
particular keyword and the specific number of search the keyword is getting.

SEO (Search engine optimization)
Improving the visibility of our website in search engines’
organic search results is called SEO. We have on-page seo and off-page seo.
The Purpose of a Search Engine
1. Crawling and
Indexing - Through links, search engines’ automated robots, called
“crawlers,” or “spiders” can reach the
many billions of interconnected documents. Once the engines find these pages,
they decipher the code and store select pieces in massive hard drives, to be
recalled later.
2. Retrieving Answers
- When you perform a search, search engines scour the billions of stored
documents and do two things – first, return those results that are the most
relevant to your query, and second, rank those results in order of perceived
importance.
On Page SEO
Basic Practices
- Title Tag: Make sure the title tag on each page of the site is unique and descriptive. It should be no longer than 65 characters. If possible, place your keywords in the title tag.
- Meta Keywords: These keywords no longer carry much weight with search engines. You can use the Meta keywords to help emphasize the content keywords you would like to focus on.
- Meta Description: Search engines use the Meta description
tag to describe your web page. Make sure every page has a unique
description. It should be no longer than
160 characters.
Usability
Usability is a reference to how easy it is for a user to
accomplish what she wants on a website.
- Image Alt Text: A place where you can provide more information about what is in the image and where you can target keywords.
- File Names: Search engines look at the filename to see whether it provides clues to the content of the file.
- Media Description: A description helps the user and search engines better understand the content contained in your video, animation, etc.
Structure
- URL’s: Keeping your URL’s short and descriptive of your content will improve the user experience and lead to better crawling of your website by search engines. (Currently there is no way to change the URL in OpenText).
- Subdomains: A subdomain can look more authoritative to users and provide a reasonable choice to include keywords in the URL. Unfortunately, they have the potential to be treated separately from the primary domain when it comes to trust value.
- Navigation: Ordering your navigation in a logical and
concise manner will assist the user (they will find the site easier to use) and
search engines award greater ranking based on increased subject relevance.
- Anchor Text: The actual text placed in a link. If the text is keyword-rich, it will do more for your rankings in the search engines.
- Heading Tags: These tags are designed to indicate a headline hierarchy on the webpage. Search engines show a slight preference for keywords appearing in heading tags.
- Content Keywords: One of the most important on page SEO practices. When a user performs a query, the more relevant a keyword (or phrase) is to the query, the higher ranking the webpage will be in the search engine’s results.
Keywords - Research
- Make a list of one- to three- word phrases related to your website.
- Produce synonyms that might be used by potential students.
- Create a directory of all the people, projects, ideas, and companies connected to your site.
- Review your current site and extract current key phrases.
- Review websites associated with UWG and / or media sites to see what phrases they use.
- List all your program names, products, and other services provided.
- Have your department imagine they are potential students. What would they type in to find you?
- Ask students and people outside your department what they would search for.
- Review your competitors’ websites and see what key phrases they use.
- Consider including your competitor’s non-branded terms for use in your keyword list.
Off Page SEO – Links
Link Influence on search engines
PageRank algorithm
- External links on a webpage can be interpreted as votes.
- Initially, all votes are considered equal.
- Over the course of time, pages which receive more votes become more important.
- More important pages cast more important votes.
- Votes per Page = Page Importance / Number of Links.
Link Value
- Anchor Text: Search engines use the anchor text to help it understand what the page receiving the link is about.
- Relevance: Links that originate from sites/pages on a closely related topic are worth more.
- Authority: A site with higher authority will pass along more PageRank. However, search engines will not tell you which sites they consider authoritative.
- Trust: Trust of a websites takes into account whether the linking page or the website is easy or difficult for spammers to infiltrate. The trust level of a site is based on how many clicks away it is from one or more ‘seed’ sites.
